Our skin is a reflection of our overall health- which is why fresh, clear and glowing skin is something that’s so coveted. Being able to put our ‘best face forward’ gives us confidence, feeling beautiful on the outside can make us feel happier on the inside and superb skin can certainly do that. Here are some of the ways you can keep your complexion as fresh as possible.
Stick to a Skincare Routine
Your skincare routine doesn’t need to be complicated, but it is important you stick to it regularly. You should have a set of products you use in the morning, and a set you use in the evening. Moisturisers, oils, face masks, eye cream, lip balm are all the sorts of things you can work into your routine. Find products that you enjoy using, and be sure to go through your routines daily. You will reap the rewards or clearer, smoother skin. If you’re unsure where to start, there are loads of videos and advice on Youtube for beginners as well as product recommendations for different skin types.
Quit Smoking and Tanning
Two of the most damaging things you can do to your skin over time is smoke and bake yourself in the sun/ on sun beds. In fact, by the time most people reach a certain age it’s pretty obvious who smokes or has spent a significant amount of time in the sun. Always wear SPF, even when it’s not sunny since the sun’s UV rays are damaging all year. If this is a step you think you will forget, get a moisturiser or foundation with SPF included to kill two birds with one stone. If you’re a smoker, consider cutting back significantly or better still stopping completely. If you’re struggling going cold turkey, switching to vaping first can help- you can buy everything you need from liquids to replacement vape coils from leading e-cig brands online. Not only is vaping far better for your health and skin (since there are no byproducts of burning nicotine) but many people find that quitting from vaping is much easier than from cigarettes.
Visit a Dermatologist
If you have ongoing skin issues such as acne or eczema and it hasn’t cleared up using over the counter products, it’s so worth visiting a dermatologist or your doctor. You might have an imbalance in your body, and the right medication is able to put this right and alleviate skin issues. They’re also able to prescribe stronger and more effective products to apply topically so your chance of success and clearing up your skin is far greater. Don’t feel embarrassed or suffer in silence, it’s so worth seeking the help.
Look after your skin and reap the rewards of a healthier complexion and improved self confidence. Stop the bad skin days, put it a little effort and thought and you’ll feel healthier as well as more beautiful.
