How to Get a Picture-Perfect Smile

A beautiful smile can hide any other flaws you may have and ensure that you steal the show, especially in this age of constant selfies and endless Instagram photo streams, but what do you do when your smile isn’t exactly picture-perfect?

If your smile isn’t as beautiful as it could be, there are countless things you can to do to improve it and ensure that you always look great in those candid snaps. Here are just some of the things you can do to make your smile picture-perfect now:

Maintain Good Tooth Hygiene Practices

When it comes to your smile, the main thing is that your teeth are clean and healthy – any other flaws you can work with, but teeth in poor condition are hard to hide. So, make sure that you brush for at least two minutes at least twice a day, floss daily and see your dentist regularly. If your teeth are in poor condition, seeing a cosmetic dentist could help you to improve your teeth and boost your confidence.

Look After Your Lips

A smile is 50 percent teeth and 50 percent lips, so if you haven’t been taking care of your lips, now is the perfect time to change that. Keeping your lips healthy is actually pretty simple, all you have to do is exfoliate with a light sugar scrub once or twice a week, moisturize daily and apply an SPF lip balm before you go outside.

Cosmetically, using lip plumping serums and hydrating lipsticks is a great beauty hack that will give your lips a more luscious look that will really stand out on camera. When choosing a lipstick, if you go for a color that has blue undertones, it will make your teeth look a little whiter than they actually are.

Apply Some Bronzer

A trick that a lot of models use is to add a little bronzer to their face so that the contrast between the face and teeth is enhanced and the teeth look whiter as a result. Unless you like the pale and interesting look, this is a great way to improve your smile without spending a fortune.

Add Some Water

If you want your teeth to really sparkle on camera, a good trick is to apply some water to them just before taking your photo. On camera, the water will appear as sparkling teeth, and your smile will look totally amazing.

Smile the Right Way

You might think that there’s no right and wrong way to smile, and although you’re technically correct, you can actually improve the appearance of your smile by smiling to match your face shape. For example, if you have a long face, a wide horizontal smile will work best, whereas a more diagonally wide smile will enhance heart and oval-shaped faces.

Exercise Your Mouth

Stretch your mouth into a wide horizontal smile with your lips still touching and hold the pose for 10 seconds, then do the same, but with your lips as far apart as possible before repeating ten times. This will help to strengthen your smile and make it look prettier than ever.
